About Imaginal Mind

Kara Headshot

Hi, I’m Kara

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in mind-body healing through an integrative blend of clinical and holistic modalities.

My work brings together Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, somatic therapy, and nature-based practices, supported by depth-oriented transpersonal healing traditions to help clients access deep layers of emotional, physical, and energetic transformation.

I believe healing happens when we bring the wisdom of the body, the clarity of the mind, and the intuition of the inner self into alignment. In our work together, we explore the parts of you that long to be seen, release trauma stored in the nervous system, and reconnect with the natural world as a resource for grounding and renewal. My role is to hold a space that is both clinically informed and spiritually attuned, where you can safely unwind old patterns, reclaim your inner voice, and return to a more connected, authentic version of yourself.

Professional Background

I earned my Master’s and Educational Specialist Degrees in Counseling and Counselor Education from Indiana University Bloomington, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical mental health practice and the art of supporting personal transformation.

I am an EMDR Certified Therapist and EMDRIA-Approved Trainer and Consultant with extensive experience using EMDR to help clients process trauma, restore nervous system balance, and reconnect with their inner resilience.

My work is shaped by a deeply integrative, mind-body approach. I completed Level 1 Training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) through the IFS Institute as well as IFS-Informed EMDR through the Syzygy Institute, which allows me to guide clients in working compassionately with their inner parts and emotional landscapes.

I also have advanced training in structural dissociation and ego state therapies, supporting nuanced and trauma-informed work with complex systems.

I completed Level 1 Training in Intensive Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy through the Living Medicine Institute, expanding my understanding of emerging, evidence-informed pathways for healing and expanded states of consciousness.

I am also trained in the White Hart Ritual Process Method, which weaves together techniques from somatic psychotherapy, Gestalt, Hakomi, IFS, and relational and transpersonal psychotherapy. This multidisciplinary background allows me to hold space that is both clinically grounded and deeply attuned to the body, intuition, and the healing wisdom within each person.

My mission is to provide a safe, comfortable space and the guidance for you to heal and grow through your own life experiences.
